Summertime in the Belgrades, published weekly during the heart of summer, celebrates positive community endeavors and the culture, heritage, and outdoor attractions of Central Maine. Follow this link to learn more about our editorial philosophy.

Each issue has articles about community festivals, area businesses, local history, environmental conservation, and fun activities for children and adults. We've posted a few articles from each issue on our web site. Our print editions also include guest columns about outdoor recreation, and environmental conservation; a calendar of upcoming events; a news-everyone-can-use notebook section; and our business directory. You can find full-text versions of our print editions here.

Weekly circulation of the print edition averages 4,000 copies, which are distributed to more than two hundred businesses, camps, information centers, and other locations in over twenty Central Maine towns in the extended Belgrade Lakes region.

The Summertime editorial philosophy dates to 1992, when editor and head writer, Esther Perne, helped start the newspaper. Esther has a great affinity for the Belgrade Lakes Region; her family has summered in Belgrade since 1908.

Esther and her late husband Erle Morse bought Summertime at the end of its Summer 2001 season. The staff also includes Michael Breault, who designs and lays out the print editions, and Gregor Smith, who designed and maintains this website.
