Welcome to Summertime and Summertime!
Dear Readers,
Another summer, a very welcome late-to-arrive summer, salutes the season with open waters, the call of the loons, flip-flops, red hot dogs, green ice cream, and Summertime in the Belgrades.
As the leading connection to the region, Summertime in the Belgrades 2026 will present eleven issues filled with ideas, recommendations and advice for activities, conservation awareness, recreation, enrichment and idleness all with a healthy, wholesome, family-oriented focus, all with information on where to go, what to do and how to not spend much money, all with the magic of memories to be made and dreams to be fulfilled.
Each issue of Summertime in the Belgrades is an invitation to step out the door and into the fabulous surroundings of sparkling waterways, secluded woods, scenic heights and historic downtowns…an invitation that includes, as well, sociable times at seasonal celebrations, local fare in friendly eateries and shopping in area stores, boutiques and outlets.
This summer again, Summertime in the Belgrades will highlight a blend of weekly events and calendar listings, notes and news, recollections of history and accomplishments of conservation, ads and a directory for the region’s best goods and services.
Weekly in Summertime, there will be the awesome coverage of columnists: Martha Barkley with her library and reading adventures and commentaries; Dan McCarron focusing on the pulse of local real estate; Pete Kallin combining watershed work and knowledge with daily updates on fishing, hiking and enjoying the outdoors; Dick Greenan documenting dam information and the Belgrade Lakes Association’s fascinating loon preservation project; the 7 Lakes Alliance with an educational overview of ongoing work to protect and preserve the lakes; and the many contributors who provide specialized write-ups.
Summertime in the Belgrades thanks the advertisers whose support makes such a unique newspaper possible and who are a helpful source of local information, directions, and advice.
Thanks, too, to everyone who contacts Summertime in the Belgrades with notes of appreciation, newsworthy information and enthusiasm for the region and some really great ideas for articles.
Most importantly, thank you to the readers who have picked up this first copy of Summertime in the Belgrades 2026.
